Guidelines for Writers

Pebble Lake Review is interested in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction of high quality and serious intent. We regularly print work by both well-known and emerging writers. We recommend potential contributors read a copy of the magazine before submitting. For a sample copy, send $10 to the address below. We appreciate your interest and support of Pebble Lake Review.

How to Submit: Please send typed manuscript with cover letter listing publication credits, if any, and a SASE. Name, address, and email must appear on cover letter. Accepts simultaneous submissions (if noted), no previously published material, no multiple submissions. Submissions will be accepted via email and postal mail (no disks). Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will be returned unread. Response time is typically 1-4 months.

Poetry: Send a maximum of 5 poems care of Amanda Auchter, Editor, following the general guidelines above. If submitting via email, send poems to submissions@pebblelakereview.com, either as a Word or RTF attachment only. All poems should appear in one attachment. If submitting via postal mail, send to the address below. Please do not send: greeting card verse, amateur/children’s poetry, or erotica.

Fiction: Send a short story, 3,000 words maximum care of Fiction Editor, following the general guidelines above. If submitting via email, send stories to fiction@pebblelakereview.com, as Word or RTF attachment only. If submitting via postal mail, send to the address below.

Nonfiction: We accept critical essays, commentary, memoir, and excerpts or larger works (memoirs in progress) of 3,000 words or less. Please do not send classroom or “workshop” material. Submission should follow the general guidelines above. Send work care of Nonfiction editor to: nonfiction@pebblelakereview.com as a Word or RTF attachment only.

Reviews: We review books/chapbooks of poetry and short story collections. Please send one copy (no manuscripts) to address below. Include SASE, cover letter, and optional press kit. Materials are not returned. If submitting a review, send complete manuscript (500-750 words), SASE, and cover letter listing publication credits, if any to the address below. Note that not all books/chapbooks are selected for review. Queries may be sent to: submissions@pebblelakereview.com.

Payment/Terms: Acquires one-time online and print rights. Contributor will receive one complimentary issue.
